New Technologies For Greener Maritime & Offshore Industry At INMEX Vietnam 2024

10/04/2023

The 9th Vietnam Maritime & Offshore Technology Expo (INMEX Vietnam 2024) will return at SECC, HCMC from 19 – 21 March, 2024. With the mission of supporting the marine and seaward sector, the exhibition promises to bring a variety of advanced equipment and solutions transforming ship building and recreational craft businesses, as well as offshore producers in oil rig and wind power. This is an invaluable opportunity for foreign and domestic businesses to look for and directly access to relevant partners, maintain relationships with existing clients, showcase new technologies to potential purchasers and exchange industry knowledge & new market trends.

Vietnam benefits from a long coastline stretching over 3.200 km that borders the Gulf of Thailand, the East Sea, and the Gulf of Tonkin. It had the second-highest number of international ports in ASEAN after the Philippines, and a total of 286 seaports as of April 2021 (Statista, 2022). This country has been placed 11th among the world’s leading emerging logistics markets in 2022 by Agility, a global leader in supply chain services, infrastructure and innovation. The Vietnam maritime & seaport industry expects to continue growing strongly thanks to its FDI inflows and trade agreements entering into force.

Besides the remarkable progress in the marine transportation industry, Vietnam has an energetic and abundant offshore wind resource that is located close to the center and in relatively shallow water. This country has led the uptake of solar and wind power capacity among the ASEAN countries since 2019 (ASEAN Center for Energy, 2021). It has the most ambitious wind power development plan in the region, with a target of 11,800 megawatts of wind power capacity by 2025 (Ministry of Industry and Trade, 2020).

Not only offshore electric farms, but also oil & gas rigs have played a critical role in the development strategy of Vietnam. According to BP’s statistics, Vietnam ranked 28th among 52 countries that have oil and gas potential in the world. In 2020, the crude oil production in the country was 207 thousand barrels per day, the majority of which were from offshore blocks. Private companies have shown interest in investing in more offshore projects by acquiring stakes in the offshore oil and gas fields (Mordor Intelligence, 2022).

Due to their priority roles, the government implements many policies and resolutions to support oversea suppliers playing in those sectors, such as Decision 1579/QD-TTg 2021 about master plan on Vietnam’s seaport system development in 2021-2030, The Power Development Plan 8, Resolution No.55-NQ/TW dated February 11, 2020 and so on.

In that context, INMEX Vietnam 2024 brings up opportunities for international suppliers in maritime and offshore industry to access Vietnamese businesses. This is an extremely useful occasion for exhibitors to approach potential buyers in Vietnam and showcase their high-tech products. Thanks to exhibit activities, INMEX creates business connection opportunities between foreign companies and local ones, and empowers the economy. Furthermore, the event aims to build a close community for marine and offshore players afterwards.

 INMEX Vietnam’s Opening Ceremony

INMEX focuses on displaying solutions for the maritime & offshore industry, including Marine Supply and Logistics; Navigation and Communication Systems; Offshore Engineering; Port and Terminal Equipment and Services; Ship Building, Design, Operations and Management, Registry, Repairs, Installations; Refrigeration Systems; Computer Systems, Networks and Software, etc.

When it comes to the overall future for Vietnam’s marine and offshore sector, the need to balance production and environmental protection is a critical concern. Vietnam promised to target carbon emission neutrality by 2050 at COP26, while this country has to achieve the target of double wind generation by 2030, and continuously improve shipping fleet. The presence of the latest technologies in INMEX 2024 will be a practical solution for those tough challenges, which lead to the sustainability and lesser emission in maritime, offshore oil, gas rigs and wind power.

“INMEX Vietnam 2019 is a quality International Maritime Exhibition attracting many International Exhibitors. Joining INMEX 2019, Weichai has affirmed the strong international brand, creating a brand that can be trusted in the customers mind. It is also an opportunity to introduce new products to Vietnamese users” – Said Representative of Weichai Power Co. Ltd.
