On the afternoon of May 9, Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority held a conference to award the Certificate investment registration for the construction investment project of Wharf No.7, No.8 Lach Huyen wharf area of ​​Hai Phong Seaport and projects in Hai Phong Industrial Park and Economic Zone in May 2023. Mr. Le Trung Kien, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board.

Awarding the investment certificate to build 2 wharves No. 7 and No. 8 to Saigon Newport Corporation

The investment registration certificate of the construction investment project of Wharf No.7, No.8 Lach Huyen Wharf area was awarded to Saigon Newport Corporation One Member Limited Liability Company. 

The project has a total investment of about 12,792,637 billion VND, investing in the construction of 2 container terminals with a total length of 900 m, (each berth is 450 m long) to accept container ships up to 12,000 Teus or up to 18,000 Teus; be suitable for the receiving conditions of the relevant infrastructure and meet the safety requirements; 1 barge berth 200 m long, receiving ships of 160 Teus capacity; system of equipment for exploitation and loading and unloading of goods; port protection works, warehouse system, port service infrastructure, ship parking area, and water area connected to Lach Huyen public navigational channel. The scale of land and water use is about 79.86 hectares (including the ship parking area and the water area connected to the navigation channel about 22,332 hectares).

It is expected that after coming into operation, it will meet the demand for receiving container ships with a tonnage of up to 18,000 TEUs with an estimated cargo throughput capacity of about 1.9 million TEUs/year; employs about 600 workers.

The representative of Saigon New Port confirmed that resources will be concentrated and the construction of Piers 7 and 8 will commence in 2024 and; Put into use in 2027.

Awarding the investment certificate for the project Starcharge energy equipment factory

Also at the conference, Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority awarded investment registration certificates for new projects. These are: the Starcharge Energy Equipment Manufacturing Factory project of the Investor Starcharge Energy Pte.Ltd. (Singapore) in the Marine Industrial and Service Park manufactures electric vehicle charging stations with a total investment of 330 billion VND.

Grant HW Energy Project Investment Certificate

HW Energy project of investor HW International Investment Holdings Pte.Ltd. in the Marine Industrial and Service Park producing alkaline batteries and zinc-carbon batteries with a total investment of 1,161 billion VND.

Grant Thingking Electronics Project Investment Certificate

Thinking Electronic Vietnam project of Investor Thinking Electronic Industrial Co., Ltd in Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park, produces electronic components with total investment capital of 633 billion dong.

Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority Le Trung Kien affirmed that the investment in 2 berths No. 7, and No. 8, Hai Phong forms a chain of deep-water ports, meeting the requirements of transporting goods directly to Europe and America.

Le Trung Kien, Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, emphasized that the projects granted the Investment Registration Certificate are of great significance to celebrate the 68th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day and other events and major events of the country and cities in 2023.
