More than 236 million tons of cargo through seaports in 4 months
10/05/2022According to information from the Vietnam Maritime Administration, in the first 4 months of 2022, the total volume of cargo through the seaport is estimated at more than 236 million tons, an increase of 3% compared to the same period in 2021.
In particular, the number of domestic goods through the sea increased the strongest with nearly 99 million tons, an increase of 10%.
Regarding the volume of containerized goods, in 4 months, the volume through the seaport reached about 8 million TEUs, an increase of 2%. Imported containerized goods posted the strongest growth rate with more than 2.8 million TEUs, up 8% year-on-year.
“In April 2022 alone, the total volume through the seaport is estimated at 59 million tons, an increase of 3%. Containerized goods are estimated at 2 million TEUs, an increase of 2% compared to the same period in 2020, ”the Maritime Administration informed.
Previously, statistics of the Maritime Administration showed that some seaport areas with increased cargo volume were as follows: Quang Ninh area increased by 11%, Quang Nam area increased by 19%, Dong Nai area increased by 8%, Thanh Hoa area increased by 6% (from 9.5 million tons to 10.1 million tons).
Some seaport areas have a strong decrease in traffic such as Binh Thuan area by 13%, Can Tho area by 12%, Nghe An area by 7%, Ha Tinh area by 4%. The large seaport area such as Vung Tau also recorded a slight decrease of 3%.
